Sniffnet is a cross-platform network monitoring tool that allows users to inspect and visualize their network traffic. It offers a graphical user interface (GUI) where users can select specific network interfaces to monitor and view real-time traffic statistics and graphs. Sniffnet can identify upstream services, such as GitHub, and highlight suspicious activities like botnets or malware. The tool also provides notifications for specific network events and supports exporting data in pcap format.

One of the key features of Sniffnet is its ability to identify over 6000 upper-layer services, protocols, trojans, and worms. It can also provide detailed information about the domain names and Autonomous System Numbers (ASN) of hosts, as well as IP geolocation data. Users can save their favorite network hosts and set custom notifications to stay informed about defined network events. Sniffnet supports various installation methods, including multiple package managers and downloadable binaries.

Despite its comprehensive functionality, Sniffnet's non-native UI might be a drawback for some users, although it is not based on Electron. The tool is open-source and available under Apache-2.0 and MIT licenses.
