SmolAgents

SmolAgents is an innovative framework by HuggingFace designed to facilitate the creation of powerful AI agents with minimal effort. In SmolAgents, agents are encapsulated within classes that enable them to perform specific tasks efficiently. For example, a ManagedAgent can be created to manage various tasks by utilizing different agent types.

One application of SmolAgents is the creation of custom tools, such as a travel planner agent that retrieves travel times from Google Maps. By defining a function to get travel durations between two locations, specifying parameters like start and destination locations, and transportation modes, users can build and deploy such tools with ease. The framework supports the integration of these tools into agents, which can then execute complex tasks, such as planning a detailed one-day trip around Paris for a traveler using a rented bicycle.
