Scratchpad is a minimalist note-taking application designed to capture thoughts instantly in a single, always-accessible plain text note. Available on macOS and iOS, the app ensures quick access to notes with a clean, distraction-free interface. On macOS, Scratchpad resides in the menu bar or Dock, while on iOS, it can be accessed from the Home Screen, with future plans for Lock Screen and Control Center integration.

The app is lightweight and fast, offering features such as iCloud syncing (optional), a custom hotkey for instant writing on macOS, and a translucent background for a sleek look. It is ideal for brain dumps, quick drafts, and fleeting ideas, allowing users to jot down their thoughts without disrupting their workflow. A watchOS version is also planned for later release.

Scratchpad prioritizes user privacy, using iCloud syncing to securely transfer text across devices without collecting personal data or tracking usage. A fully functional trial version is available for macOS, which includes a reminder to purchase every 12 hours but retains all data and settings upon purchase.

The app focuses on simplicity and does not support multiple notes, text formatting, or image insertion. For users needing these features, alternative apps like Plain Text Editor or Tot are recommended. Scratchpad offers a more affordable and straightforward solution compared to Tot, with advantages such as optional iCloud sync, unlimited note size, and a translucent background on macOS.
