Product information

Kuasar is an advanced container runtime designed to provide comprehensive cloud-native container solutions across various scenarios by leveraging multiple sandbox techniques. It is written in Rust, ensuring high performance, security, and minimal overhead. Kuasar introduces a standard sandbox abstraction based on the sandbox API, which streamlines sandbox access and management, making it a first-class citizen in container operations.

The runtime supports mainstream sandboxes like Cloud-Hypervisor and WasmEdge, enabling the colocation of multiple sandboxes on a single node. Kuasar's optimized framework includes a single resident sandboxer process that significantly accelerates container startup times by 2× and reduces shim overheads by 99%. This framework also features clear sandbox device management logic, effectively addressing resource residual issues.

Kuasar is open-source, licensed under Apache 2.0, and welcomes contributions from the community. It aims to create an open and neutral multi-sandbox technique ecosystem, supporting the diverse requirements of cloud-native applications in terms of isolation, security, speed, and resource utilization. The project is part of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation sandbox and is backed by notable organizations like HuaweiCloud, Agricultural Bank of China, WasmEdge, and openEuler.
